Measuring 6 ft 7 in x 4 ft 6 in (200.6 cms x 137.1 cms) finely detailed floral design Turkish Rug, hand woven in the Central Anatolian Town of Urgup around the 1960s. The basic Cream/ Beige foundation features Floral Motifs woven in Blue and Red
During the period 1920s until the 1970’s, Turkish women, who had been relocated from Macedonia during the population exchange of 1923, were trained in the art of Rug Weaving in specially established Workshops in and around the Urgup region. The Urgup rugs produced during this time are renowned for the exceptional quality of materials and workmanship of the original production. This particular rug has been “Color Reformed” and / or "Antique Washed" and the pile reduced to produce the faded / distressed “Vintage-Look” so popular at this time. Hand made in the 60's to 70's, woven of wool on cotton or wool on wool and in excellent condition, these rugs combine a contemporary color palette with vintage design appeal and the reduced pile allows for flexibility of placement under furniture and ease of cleaning.
