Measuring 9 ft 2 in x 6 ft 4 in (279.4 cms x 193 cms) this is a very finely woven in Wool and Silk on Cotton, This Shasaver Soumak Kilim is a Handmade Vintage Wool Flat-Weave Kilim Rug, made in Far South Eastern Turkey by Tribal Weavers up to 60 years ago. This intricately patterned rug features stylized Bird Motifs incorporated into the front surface. Soumak Rugs are also known as “warp-wrapped” weavings, highly appreciated for their finely woven, textured or “embroidered” structure and linear / geometric patterns and designs. Soumaks are not reversible and, often, one directional. Most suitable for floor and wall decoration, use of a rug mat or non-slip underlay is recommended to minimise movement on smooth surfaces.
