Measuring Measuring 8'10''x5'11'' (269 cms x 180 cms ) we are proud to offer this Unique and Magnificent example of Turkish Hereke Rug production. 100% Handmade, Vintage Wool Knotted Pile Rug, made in the town of Hereke in the Kocaeli Province of Izmit, Turkey by Tribal Weavers up to 60 years ago. Hereke Rugs are quite exceptional, and are considered to be among the finest, "high-end" carpets produced in Turkey due to the top quality of the Wool, Bursa Silk and Cotton used in their construction and the intricate, floral and curved designs more typical of Oriental Rugs. The designs originate from the historical period of the 16th Century Ottoman Empire when Sultans engaged Master Weavers from all over the Middle East to produce quality “Works of Art” for local and commercial “high-end” customers. This Rug honours the design and production standards of the past as well as reflecting the skills and workmanship of 20th Century Weavers.

Every rug is hand-knotted by master weavers in the villages of Central and Eastern Anatolia, carrying centuries of tradition. Each piece is made by hand with natural fibers and organic vegetable dyes — no two rugs are alike.
