We are proud to offer this large size, softly coloured, Vintage Turkish Rug, originally hand woven in the Central Anatolian region of Kayseri, Turkey over 60 years ago . Measuring 9 ft 6 in x 6 ft 6 in (289.5 cms x 198.1 cms) this rug is tightly woven with wool pile on a cotton base. The use of cotton, once considered to be more valuable and prestigious than wool, allows for the weaving of these intricate floral design motifs which are typical of and unique to traditional Kayseri rug construction technique. The pleasingly muted, soft colors are not only appealing to the eye, but also compliment most contemporary home decorating trends. The natural process of softening of the feel and colours of natural fibres is evident in this rug which has mellowed over time to a paler version of the original.
