This is an outstanding example of an Antique Caucasian Fahrola rug, originally woven in the early 1900s by local weavers in the Southern Caucasian mountain region which is now known as Azerbijan.
Using locally sourced sheep wool colored with vegetable dyes, this is one of the more highly sought after and collectable types of Fahrola Antique Rug as it features the classic Fahrola design of a plain, undecorated central field in indigo blue with a distinctive geometric / rosette border.
This rug has proportions typical of Talish weavings, being rectangular in shape and measuring 5 ft 7 in x 4 ft 6 in (173 cm x 141 cm)
