This antique Afshar rug sets three stacked, hooked medallions in salmon, rose and ivory on a deep midnight-blue field. Between them, tiny plants, diamonds and little birds are scattered across the ground, and the field is framed by several narrow borders in ivory, red and blue. The colours still read clearly, with the soft wear you expect from an old tribal weave. At about 5.5 by 7 feet it suits a living room or the centre of a bedroom.
