Floral Turkish Kayseri Rug, 10x7, Handwoven Wool, Faded Oriental Design
We are proud to offer this large size, softly colored, Vintage Turkish Rug, originally hand woven in the Central Anatolian region of Kayseri, Turkey over 60 years ago . Measuring 10 ft 1 in x 7 ft 2 in (305 cms x 217 cms) this rug is tightly woven with wool pile on a cotton base. The use of cotton, which was once considered to be more prestigious and valuable than wool, allows for the weaving of the intricate floral desgin motifs which are typical of and unigue to traditional Kayseri rug construction techniques. The pleasingly muted, soft colors are not only pleasing to the eye, but also compliment most contemporary home decorating trends. The natural process of softening of texture and colours of natural fibres is evident in this rug which has mellowed over time to a paler version of the original.
