Measuring 11’ 8” x 3’ 8”( 355.6 cms x 111.7 cms) this is a Traditional Design Long Hallway Runner Rug in Red, Blue and Brown handwoven in the Central Anatolian region of Konya, Turkey by Tribal Weavers up to 60 years ago. Located on the original “Silk Road” route that allowed trade to prosper and cultures to come in contact over the centuries, Konya has a very rich history of Carpet weaving. Konya Carpets have become some of the most sought after of the vintage and antique Turkish village rugs, and are renowned for their magnificent, rich colors, lustrous quality wool and unfettered bold tribal motifs such as stepped geometric medallions, or “Memling Guls,” arranged as all-over or central designs. Intricate geometric or floral borders often surround the dramatic single color central field on which the “medallions” feature.
