It is a Traditional design Vintage Balikesir Striped Kilim Rug made in the Marmara region of South Western Anatolia Tribal Weavers up to 60 years ago. This is a 100% Handmade, Vintage Wool Flat-weave Cicim (embroidered) Kilim Rug. Cicim Kilims are often referred to as "embroidered" weavings as the design motifs are applied "in addition to" the warp and weft (supplementary weft technique) adding a textured effect to the plain background. This rug features traditional motif design enhancement in red, green, orange and yellow on dark brown, flatweave background. Cicim rugs are not reversible and, generally, benefit from the use of a rug pad or non-slip underlay to prevent movement on smooth surfaces or high traffic areas
