This lovely antique Qashai runner features a prominent red field with contrasting blues, whites, and other colors, which is common in Qashqai rugs. The design showcases a variety of geometric motifs, including diamonds, hexagons, and star-like shapes, arranged in a repeating pattern along the length of the rug. This aligns with the traditional geometric designs favored by Qashqai weavers. The specific motifs and their arrangement suggest a tribal influence, reflecting the nomadic heritage of the Qashqai people. The rug has a series of borders with varying designs, a common feature in Oriental rugs, including Qashqai examples.
While it's difficult to definitively confirm the age from an image alone, the rug appears to have the characteristics of an older piece, potentially with some wear and patina consistent with age.
