Göçmen means 'migrant', and these kilims were woven by Balkan families who resettled in Anatolia. This antique example has a warm rust-red field filled with rows of tree-like stems in mint green, butter yellow, lilac and aubergine, each branch ending in small diamonds and flower heads. A deep aubergine border with a white zigzag edge frames the field. At nearly 7 by 10 feet it brings plenty of colour to a living or dining room without a heavy, busy pattern.
