Originally hand-woven of locally sourced and vegetable dyed sheep wool, this striped, Flat-weave Kilim was made in the Province of Balikesir in the Marmara region of North Western Turkey by nomadic weavers up to 60 years ago. The design is typical of the area with an overall striped design in brown, orange, blue, green and white/beige enhanced by Cicim (embroidered) traditional motifs. Due to the embroidered nature of the rug, this Kilim is not reversible.
