Measuring 6 ft x 3 ft 8 in (183 cm x 112 cm) this is a Traditional design rug handwoven in the Bergama district of the Izmir Province of North Western Anatolia, Turkey by Tribal Weavers up to 70 years ago. Historically, Bergama was one of Anatolia’s wealthiest cities and important Carpet weaving centres from the 13th to the 20th Century. Using the finest quality of locally sourced sheep wool, Turkish Bergama rugs were woven closer to the style of Caucasian Kazak rugs than Greek or Turkish ones. with large, bold, geometric patterns woven in strong colors of brick red, dark blue and white sheep wool.
