This is a particularly finely woven rug made of the highest quality lambs wool on a cotton base which allows for very tight knotting, intricate designs and low, even pile. Woven by Turkomen craftsmen in the mid 1900's this rug, also known as an Afghan Bokhara after the designs and colors traditionally used by Turkoman tribesmen of Far Eastern Turkey and beyond, is a superb example of the quality of workmanship and materials which characterize the tradition of Turkoman rug weaving.
