Soumak is a rare type of Kilim. However, genuinely speaking, Soumak is not a Kilim but a different variety in flat-woven textiles. Soumak is embroidered (not weaved) and its threads are rather left uncut/stranded at the back. They employ different styles of tribal motifs, predominantly geometric and bird motifs. Soumaks rugs have high value and are most suitable for contemporary, modern decor.
