Description
The medallion and spandrels are related to those seen on some knotted pile carpets from Iran, the floral motifs in offset rows connected by branches are related to those on some Herat rugs. The so-called Senneh Kilims might have originally been produced from cartoons in connection with knotted carpets weaving. The term Senneh both refers to the weaving proving, and defines a specific structure, that of floral motifs with many small slits. In order to obtain a fine structure frequently cotton warp threads were used.
